Photo Flash Challenge #3
Hello again! It’s been so much fun reading the stories submitted over the last two challenges, and really looking forward to what wonderful things we get this time around. The selected image should attract a wide variety of stories, so here’s hoping you’re feeling inspired!
Challenge: Write a short story based on the photo provided. It must be no more than 300 words (excluding the title, and fewer words is fine). You can write on any theme/genre but no children’s stories and nothing explicit please.
Send your entries to competitions@retreatwest.co.uk by 23:59 on Sunday, 12th August. Include your story entry, the story title, any social media details you wish to share and a brief author bio in the body of the email. One entry will be accepted per person.
Finalists: Up to five finalists will be selected and made available for public vote on Monday, 20th August.
Voting will be open for one week (the last vote to be counted must be posted by 23:59 on Sunday, 26th August). Anyone signed up to Retreat West will be able to vote by leaving a comment with the title of their favourite story.
Prize: The overall winner will be announced on Monday, 27th August and will receive a Retreat West £25 Gift Card which can be used against the cost of courses, retreats and critiques. The winner will also receive one free entry into a Quarterly Themed Flash Competition. In addition, the story will be published on the Retreat West website.
We plan to collect together the winning stories of various Photo Flash Challenges in a “Hall of Fame” section at a future date.
